Three weeks into our start in Lusaka, and Young Africa’s progress is moving along steadily. We have been lucky enough to meet some Government representatives already, thanks to our hardworking and passionate local Board. We wanted a strong start with the right people in Lusaka, and we have gotten it. The search for the perfect Young Africa training centre in Lusaka continues, and this week we looked at two places, both of which have potential. Like anything, it takes time for decisions to be made; but we are optimistic that Young Africa’s perfect home is here somewhere in the Lusaka area.
In the meantime, we have found our first Young Africa office in an area called Foxdale, on the outskirts of the city. With an official address and office we can now really start our programme work. In Ireland, Mark’s old football club, Sallypark FC, have kindly included us in their fundraising event coming in November. We are so excited and grateful to have this support from home, and really look forward to using the donation towards delivering ICDL-accredited computer training to young people in Zambia.
It is a long road ahead for Young Africa in Zambia, but if our first three weeks on the ground are anything to go by, it should be a successful one.
