All centres offer vocational training with integrated life skills & entrepreneurship development. Besides this standard programme the YA training centres may implement other relevant youth empowerment programmes.
Other Youth Empowerment Programmes at YA Namibia
Of all vocational training courses offered, the most popular courses are solar technology and welding. We encourage girls and young people with disabilities to enrol too. The Life Skills training that is integrated into the vocational training always receives a positive feedback from participants.
In 2015, Young Africa Namibia piloted a new approach to delivering TVET as a way to influence channelling of corporate social responsibility resources towards job-related skills training. Young Africa joins forces with leading local industries with interest in offering job-related skills training at their industrial sites. Through this model, small groups of up to six unemployed young people receive practical job-related skills training over a certain number of days per week at the industrial site for period of up to three months. During the three months period, Young Africa joins in to offer Life Skills Education and Entrepreneurship skills training to this group of students. Trainees do not pay for their training. All training costs are borne by the training company. The company pays Young Africa a fee for conducting Life Skills and Entrepreneurship training.
We successfully reach out to our communities by organising music and art classes for young people. This helps us engage with over 150 young people in different age groups.
YA Namibia is a young organisation with great ideas to enable youth empowerment. The team is constantly networking and collaborating with local (N)GOs, businesses and different embassies to achieve success. If you would like to collaborate with us on our mission, do not hesitate to get in touch.
