Young Africa sets up financially self-sustainable skills centres in which local entrepreneurs train youths in professional skills. This Franchise Model is what makes Young Africa unique; all training departments are rented to local entrepreneurs (franchisees), who pay rent for the use of workshop facilities, equipment and brand name and run their small enterprises on site. Each enterprise/department raises their income from the profit they generate through the production of goods or services. Contributions from these franchisees cover the operational expenses of the YA Centre, guaranteeing its self-sustainability.
At this early stage in Zambia, we are working from Global Platform Zambia on Great East Road, Lusaka. Global Platform is a youth centre which runs various trainings and events for youth development. It is an ideal location for Young Africa to base our activities, with an office space and access to rtaining rooms where we can carry out ICT training, Life Skills and Entrepreneurship, as well as getting involved in other youth activities at the centre.
Young Africa Zambia is continuing the search for the perfect location to build the next YA Centre in the Lusaka area; a youth training centre with fully-equipped training workshops, classrooms, library, IT Lab and arts and sports facilities.
