We Be Sisters

We Be Sisters was founded by Anesca Smith, a South African who resides in the Netherlands. After working for years as a political journalist in South Africa and London - with career highlights such as meeting Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama - Anesca relocated to the Netherlands to study International Business Administration.

The motivation behind starting a hand-made clothing line was two-folded: introducing the rest of the world to African-inspired clothing with a modern twist and making clothes available in a wider range of sizes than what is currently the norm. The common thread weaving through everything we do at WE BE SISTERS is simple - the belief that all women are beautiful. The clothes are handmade in the Netherlands, but ever-inspired by travels made long ago and far away in warmer climates. It wavers between the bold, magical prints of Africa and the simpler cottons and linen from India. They are intended for the woman who is at once strong and playful.

Anesca is impressed with the work YA is doing and had decided to donate 10% of all her profits to Young Africa. Click here to go to the webshop.
