Power cuts are a nationwide problem in Zimbabwe
Power cuts are a nationwide problem in Zimbabwe lasting from 14 to 24 hours daily. The power outages affect our Young Africa Zimbabwe center, especially the ICT-department, tremendously. Oftentimes classes are canceled and sounds of generators cause a lot of distraction.
With the help of the Postcode Loterij, the ICT-centre was able to install a solar system that has the classes up and running again. The solar system also contributes to making the center in Chitungwiza a completely green institution.
The installation of the solar system is a major highlight in the project supported by the Postcode Loterij. The project is currently being carried out at our centers in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Namibia and Botswana and allows us to keep unlocking the power of youth in Africa.
