Young Africa visits the Skills2Live Mobile Training in Chirundu

Last week a team of Young Africa, including the CEO, visited the Skills2Live mobile training in Chirundu, Zimbabwe.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary and her team of the Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation, we visited the work of Skills2Live: empowering youths with access to vocational training to reach their full potential and to make healthy life choices.

Students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive training in various disciplines: from motor vehicle maintenance, cosmetology, catering and plumbing to export and import management. Every student is apprenticed by a master craftsperson who is established in a specific field and offers on the job training. Additionally, each training is integrated with entrepreneurship, life skills and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights education.

In Zimbabwe, the Skills2Live mobile training is currently active in border towns: Chirundu and Beitbridge. We couldn’t be happier: 171 young people received training in Chirundu and 110 in Beitbridge.
