Equipping disadvantaged youth with life-changing skills
In Zimbabwe, where youth unemployment remains alarmingly high, access to practical skills training is more urgent than ever. Many young people, especially the most vulnerable, struggle to find pathways into dignified work, financial independence, and sustainable livelihoods. Care to Share responds to this need by equipping disadvantaged youth with life-changing skills, while also strengthening local organisations to replicate Young Africa’s proven models of empowerment.
Objectives of the project
The “Care to Share” project is being implemented by 8 partners in 5 provinces in Zimbabwe. It aims to achieve four main outcomes by December 2026: 70% of the 810 graduates will be economically active six months post-graduation; over 90% of the graduates will demonstrate improved self-efficacy and agency regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); a thriving network of private TVET providers in Zimbabwe will enhance the quality, relevance, and impact of members’ TVET programmes while fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement; and eight Oak Foundation partners will have improved their capacity to implement market-relevant integral TVET programmes for disadvantaged youths using the YA mobile training approach.

Our impact so far
This project is made possible with funding from Oak Foundation and builds on the success of the previous Empowered to Empower initiative, where Young Africa piloted this work with four partners; Simukai Child Protection Programme, MASO, Bethany Project, and FACE Zimbabwe to deliver youth-focused, market-relevant TVET programmes. The success of the Empowered to Empower initiative led to the Care to Share project, which expanded this work from four to eight partners as part of our scaling effort.
