    Young Africa in Zimbabwe

Young Africa Zimbabwe, established in 2001, marks the beginning of Young Africa’s transformative work on the continent. It has become a cornerstone of the organization’s mission, empowering vulnerable youth with vocational and life skills to foster employability and entrepreneurship.

The Chitungwiza Centre, Young Africa’s first centre in Zimbabwe, stands as the Model Centre for the entire Young Africa Federation, embodying the organization’s vision of holistic youth empowerment. Training is delivered through this flagship centre, another in Epworth, and mobile training units that reach underserved areas, integrating practical vocational training with essential soft skills like entrepreneurship, life skills education, psychosocial support, work readiness, financial literacy, and digital literacy.

To date, Young Africa Zimbabwe has reached over 25,000 youth across seven provinces. With a strong partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation, it operates across all ten provinces, setting the standard for youth empowerment and inspiring similar initiatives across Africa.

    YA’s franchise business model

Our longest running training centres are located in Chitungwiza and Epworth. Here we began with empowering students through technical vocational training. Our integral approach to youth development and the franchise model were created here. The centres are well rooted in the communities around them.
