Widower Bert de Waal organises heartwarming art exhibition
Luck Ngwerume’s story is a testament to the transformative power of skills. As he puts it: “I am forever grateful to Young Africa for bringing change into my life.”
Luck, a 24-year-old from Zimbabwe, didn’t have the easiest time in school. He struggled through Form 4, repeating it twice, and only excelled in commerce. But everything changed when his aunt recommended that he enrol at Young Africa Zimbabwe.
In January 2022, Luck joined the welding course under the Skills2Live programme. This decision set him on a new path. His hard work paid off during his attachment at Steel Tech in the Msasa Industrial Area, Harare, where he impressed his employers. They offered him a full-time job immediately after his attachment.
Now, Luck is not only financially independent but also supports his family. The life skills training he received at Young Africa boosted his self-confidence and enhanced his communication skills, making him a standout employee.
