Widower Bert de Waal organises heartwarming art exhibition
Exciting news! Young Africa will expand to Nigeria with the Youth Employability Booster Programme. The programme aims to empower Nigerian youth, particularly young women, through holistic vocational training, with support from the Mastercard Foundation.
With 70% of Nigeria’s population under the age of 25, the country has one of the largest youth populations worldwide. However, youth unemployment is alarmingly high at 34.9%, and many young people lack access to essential services and opportunities.
The Youth Employability Booster Programme targets over 7,000 vulnerable youth, providing market-aligned skills training, business development support, and integrating essential services such as childcare and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR).
“This programme is a game-changer for Nigerian youth, especially young women, offering them the tools to build a sustainable future,” says CEO Dorien Beurskens.
This initiative represents a crucial step towards reducing youth unemployment and enhancing self-reliance in Nigeria. By collaborating with local TVET centres and industry stakeholders, the programme ensures the training is relevant to the job market, thereby increasing participants’ chances of stable employment.
