Skills2Live Welcomes Joyce Malasha as Country Director

When Ruvimbo Nyengwi, a vibrant 24-year-old young woman, first noticed a lump in her left breast, fear gripped her heart. The lump had grown to the point where it was affecting the movement of her hand, making simple daily tasks difficult and painful. But more than the physical pain, it was the emotional weight of uncertainty that nearly overwhelmed her.
Fortunately, Ruvimbo found her way to the Wellness Centre, where she met a compassionate peer supporter who became her lifeline. With gentle encouragement and unwavering support, the peer supporter helped Ruvimbo navigate her fear and referred her to the wellness nurse who examined her and referred to Chitungwiza Central Hospital for specialized care.
At the hospital, Ruvimbo was quickly connected to a specialist who recommended surgery. Though anxious, she drew strength from the continued support of the Wellness Centre team, who walked alongside her every step of the way. The operation was successfully performed in Zambia, and the lump was completely removed without complications. Throughout her recovery, Ruvimbo attended regular review appointments at Chitungwiza Central Hospital. With each visit, her health improved, and her confidence grew. At her final check-up, the doctor delivered the news she had been hoping for: she was fully recovered and has no breast cancer.
