Widower Bert de Waal organises heartwarming art exhibition
Shepherd Machipisa (25), a former street vendor in Harare, has transformed his life through skills training. He enrolled in welding training at Young Africa Zimbabwe, where he discovered a passion for business and entrepreneurship.
Graduating in 2023, Shepherd took a bold step by starting his own business, Simba Dairy Fruit Mix, with just €45. Today, as the brand manager, he earns a steady income of at least €9 a day, or €270 a month.
Shepherd attributes his success to the skills and life lessons he gained at Young Africa, particularly the entrepreneurship training. His advice? “Stand up for yourself”—a principle he holds dear from his life skills lessons, which continue to inspire him every day.
Shepherd’s journey is a shining example of the transformative power of skills training and hard work.
